John DeAmicis

John is a landscape architect who has developed a fabulous career as an artist and cartoonist.  Because his quirky and inspirational point of view has often merged with his interest in nature and environment, we approached him to see if we could offer some of his work to our members.

Born in NYC in 1953, raised Central NJ; Received a BS in Landscape Architecture from Rutgers University and worked in that field for about 10 years.

John has earned his living as a full time artist for about 30 years. He has been commissioned by IBM, Pepsi, ABC TV, the Seuss estate, the Rockefeller Group and many other corporations as well as individuals to apply his unique style of art to their needs.

John's drawings and illustrations have been compared to Charles Bragg and Daumier. He depicts his unusual interpretations of common situations and clichés creating complex and sophisticated satirical art pieces. His slavish dedication has become more than a full time pursuit. Indeed it has passed into the realm of obsession. Fanciful lines flow from his pens and pencils in an antic parade. A keen observer of life, John tends to zero in on society's idiosyncratic elements in practicing his brand of work.

John's work has been exhibited in many major galleries both here and abroad. In addition, he has written and illustrated three books of poetry. He continues to produce limited edition lithographs and silk-screens and is barely able to accommodate the demand for his work which has received many awards and notices and is in collections worldwide.
